Goals & Objectives

The Hebrew School of the New City Jewish Center is dedicated to providing its students and families an environment which builds a foundation for life-long learning. We create an atmosphere where each student and family can succeed in developing a Jewish identity, where each student and family can succeed in developing a commitment to the NCJC community and synagogue, and where each student and family can succeed in developing a love of Torah and pride in their Jewish Heritage.

In order to achieve these objectives we will work together to implement the following goals:

  • A belief in and a love of God
  • A development of basic Jewish Literacy, including Hebrew, Siddur skills, Torah, Jewish History and observance related to Jewish rituals and holidays
  • An understanding of the culture, history and ethics of the Jewish People through textual study from a variety of sources, including, the Tanach,  and Talmud.
  • A dedication to and love for the centrality of the State of Israel in Jewish Life.
  • A fostering of a kinship with the world Jewish community and actively seeking the welfare of Jews throughout the world.
  • An appreciation of the interdependence of the Jewish home, school and community in the learning and implementation of Jewish values.
  • An emphasis on the concept of mitzvah as an actualization of Jewish belief.
  • An appreciation of lifelong Torah study as a vital link to our tradition.
