Social Action - Tikkun Olam
Tikkun olam/social justice is a core value of Judaism and an integral part of who we are at NCJC.
Throughout the year we pursue justice in all its forms; from creating and collecting items to distribute to local community advocacy programs to blood drives and tzedakah projects, there is a way for every community member to get involved!

Explore and Create: A Cultural Art Collaboration
Presented by New City Jewish Center & Rockland Jewish Family Service
Explore and Create is a unique Cultural Arts program designed for high school students and their special friends—high-functioning adults from our community. Together, partners collaborate to design and produce a creative arts project of their choice, fostering friendship, understanding, and shared expression through art.
Past projects have included:
Original songs, Chanukah scrapbooks, rock painting & canvas collages, friendship bracelets, sports trivia games, modeling clay figurines, cartooning projects
Throughout the year, partner groups meet four times (plus a teen-only orientation) to plan, create, and connect.
The program culminates in a celebratory dinner and presentation, where participants proudly display and discuss their artwork.
Traditionally held just before Chanukah, the final presentation becomes a joyful part of our community’s Chanukah celebration, highlighting creativity, connection, and inclusion.
